evive Help Center
Welcome! evive lets you manage your WordPress website just by chatting — no developer, no page builder, no logging into wp-admin for the day-to-day stuff. This page covers the basics and the most common questions.
Getting started
- Log in with your email — evive uses a one-time code, no password to remember.
- Connect your WordPress site under Settings: you'll need your site's URL, your WordPress username, and an Application Password (not your regular login password — WordPress generates these separately under Users → Profile → Application Passwords).
- Once connected, just start chatting. Tell evive what you want changed, in plain language.
Try: "What can you help me with on my site?"
Talking to evive
Talk to evive the way you'd talk to a capable assistant — describe what you want, not which button to click. evive figures out the technical steps.
- You can attach images directly in the chat (drag-and-drop, paste, or the attach button).
- evive always creates new content as a draft first — nothing gets published without you reviewing it and saying so explicitly.
- Every draft comes with a preview link so you can see exactly how it'll look before it goes live.
Try: "Write a short blog post about our new opening hours and save it as a draft."
Editing photos and reviews
Swapping a photo, updating a review, or refreshing an old page doesn't require finding the right file or widget yourself — just describe what you want changed and evive will locate it.
- Photo swaps never delete your original image — the old file stays safely in your media library.
- New customer reviews can be added directly from the text you paste in — evive formats and places them for you.
- If a specific photo or slide needs replacing (like a hero banner image), just say which one — "the second photo in the homepage slideshow," for example — no technical IDs needed.
Try: "Replace the second photo in my homepage slideshow with this one" (then attach the photo).
Backups
Your site can be backed up on demand before any bigger change, using UpdraftPlus under the hood. Look for Backup & Restore in the sidebar to trigger one and see your backup history. A backup normally takes one to two minutes — larger sites can take a little longer.
Multiple sites
If you manage more than one WordPress site, you can connect all of them and switch between them from the site switcher at the top of the sidebar. Chat history is kept separate per site.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing seems to have changed after an edit? Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 / Cmd+Shift+R) — your browser or site cache may be showing an older version for a moment.
- Upload failed / file too large? Very large images (especially uncompressed PNGs) can hit a size limit. Try compressing the image or attaching a smaller version.
- Still stuck? Reach out to your evive contact and describe what you tried — a screenshot of any error message helps a lot.
